Baking is a complicated science, and just when you thought you had the ideal formula or cake mix, you placed it in the oven (OTG) – the cake was underbaked, did not bake in the stated time – either took longer or baked quicker, or got charred on top. You’d assume your cake is done on top and raised nicely, but it’s still moist in the center. This time, it’s not your responsibility.
Apart from having a wonderful formula or a cake mix, it is critical to grasp one essential element of baking: Every Oven Is Different . In my 35+ years of culinary expertise, I’ve baked in ovens ranging in capacity from 16 liters to 25 liters to 40 liters to big commercial ovens, not to mention gas ovens and old-fashioned sand ovens. And each one has its own distinct disposition and demeanor.
The temperature settings in each oven are very distinct. It can take as little as 15 minutes to prepare an oven, and as long as 25 minutes on a sluggish oven. When the regulator reaches its specified temperature, it turns off the heat until the temperature goes below a certain threshold before resuming heating. This pattern is the issue.
Understanding your oven’s temperature setting and how the thermal features operate in your oven is essential for excellent culinary outcomes. And this does not usually happen on the first attempt. (if you are a beginner to baking). It will take a few tries to get the correct temperature for making pastries, biscuits, sandwiches, pizzas, and so on.
Important Note Each furnace is unique, and heating temperatures and durations will vary accordingly.
